The look, the smell, and taste of chocolate makes it one of the most indulgent of foods, so it's hardly surprising that chocolate cakes have become such a popular choice for weddings!
The classic and contemporary designs range from smooth, sleek, shiney, elegant and stylish look of dark chocolate, to the pretty cakes adorned with creamy white chocolate curls. Cakes can be designed from a simple one-tier, to the more extravagant 4-tier creations.
There are a wide range of chocolate cake coverings, from pure Belgian chocolate in dark, milk and white, to ganache (chocolate and cream) and chocolate paste. Chocolate cakes are also a popular choice to be served as a dessert at the wedding reception. Obviously the size of the cake would depend on how many guests would be attending. A stunning example would be a 4-tier stacked with cigarellos surrounding, draped with summer fruits and berries. For those who absolutely hate marzipan, chocolate roses, leaves and drapes can be made from dark, milk or white chocolate. A spectacular looking cake with a combination of chocolate textures, ideal for any celebration.
For an extra dimnsion to your cake why not add a hint of flavour whether it be coffee or orange etc. A rich coating sauce is an excellent medium for pouring over cakes giving it a glossy appearance even when set. It retains it's elasticity so it will not crack when cutting. This particular chocolate cake has great texture and flavour and works superbly if accompanied with a selection of different truffles. Extravavgant enough for any chocoholics cravings!

An alternative, but very striking appearance can be achieved by using a domino effect. It has crisp clean lines, and looks fantastic when a combination of chocolates are used.

A very modern and popular design this year has been a Belgian chocolate cake edged with white Belgian chocolate cigarellos. Each tier is stacked and suspended about 2" apart so that flowers of your choice can be delicately placed in between giving it it's stunning appearance.
